WELCOME MELANIE!

Hi, my name is Melanie Fisher and I would like to introduce myself to the WPC family. I am married to Anthony (Tony) Fisher and we live in the Due West area.  We will have been married for 25 years this November!  We have 6 children ages 17-32 and soon to be 13 grandchildren (in June).  Tony works at Velux so we carpool each day.  This is a double blessing for us because it gives us a little time together while also saving on gas!

I am so excited for the opportunity God has given me to serve as your church secretary.  I know He has placed me here because the morning of my interview, during my quiet time, I breathed a prayer for guidance.  As I opened my devotion, the title was “Claiming Your New Position.”  I just smiled because I knew He was providing the assurance I needed to do just that!  I am so thankful to be a part of such a wonderful ministry team.

New Church Development

New Faith

New Faith (Trinity Presbytery’s New Church Development in Greenwood area) continues growing in faith and numbers. Their regular worship service is called “The Experience” and it is a wonderful experience for all who attend. This summer, New Faith will be replacing “The Experience” with “Morning Glory Experience”. Worship service will begin at 8:00 am each Sunday, June 10th – July 29th.   The film crew has visited and preparations are in progress for New Faith to be recognized at our General Assembly this summer.  New Faith thanks Westminster for our support. How exciting it is for us to get to be a part of God’s work with this new developing church.  For additional information check out their website at www.newfaithpres.com .

Downtown Church

Downtown Church (Trinity Presbytery’s New Church Development in downtown Columbia) is also growing in faith and numbers. If you happen to be in Columbia area on a Sunday, stop in at 10:00am, 701 Whaley St., for worship.  Their service is interactive and casual.  Their website describes the worshipers as ‘a community of unfinished people in pursuit of truth’.  For additional information about Trinity Presbytery’s newest new church development visit their website at www.ourdowntownchurch.org

It is exciting and amazing to get to see up close the good things God is doing in our Presbytery. Thank you for helping to spread the Good News is such positive ways!

ONE CAN MINISTRY...

Any Canned Food Item

Containers are located in the hall outside of the sanctuary and in the fellowship hall.  The congregation is continually challenged to remember this  ministry in prayer and action.

Soup Kitchen

Don’t Forget!!!

Donations are needed to feed the hungry!

April: Any Canned Food Item

The containers are in the hall outside the sanctuary and upstairs in the north entrance.

Have you missed a meal or two because you had no food? Have you ever been hungry - really hungry as not eaten in two or more days? Have you had no money to buy food for several weeks?  Most of us will answer "no" to these questions and think them ridiculous. However, there are people in Greenwood who answer truthfully "yes" to these questions. That is why our church has adopted the Soup Kitchen as a weekly project. All members who are willing, bring canned goods or non-perishable food to the church and place them in the containers in the hall near the church offices or at the north entrance. These are taken weekly to the soup kitchen where approximately 150 people have their only meal of the day. If you can pick up a can or two when you're shopping and bring them to the church, you will indeed be fulfilling "...if you did it for one of these, you did it unto me". There is a monthly suggestion in the bulletin as to what you might bring, but you may bring whatever you choose. at any time. Let's make sure hungry Greenwoodians have at least one nourishing meal each day. Thank you.
