Evangelism Opportunities at Westminster

Joyous 2010! As you go through this year with all it’s possibilities, we invite YOU to join the Evangelism Ministry Team in ‘Sharing the Good News”.

There are many areas of service available here at Westminster. Please take time to look over the following summary of Evangelism Programs and also please let the Evangelism Ministry Team know if you would like to join in serving in any of these areas.

·         The Prison Ministry at the McCormick Correctional Facility is spearheaded by Van Taylor. This year our group will be making three visits to the facility. Dates are April 4, August 8, and
October 3. We are always looking for new members who may feel a call for this ministry.

·         The Senior Outreach Program is wonderful and many people are just volunteering on their own as God has called them. Here are a few that we know about: Toni Sample, a Bible Study leader at Ashley House; Joyce Alexander and Mary Corley, clown ministries at Wesley Commons; Karla Cox, Susan Judge, and Connie Dailey, reading and reaching out to residents at Magnolia Manor. If you have a desire to participate in our Senior Outreach, or if you are already reaching out somewhere, please let us know.

·         Our participation in Live After Five has been well received. We need volunteers to hand out refreshments and to paint those youngster’s faces! The events take place monthly between May and October, on Thursdays, in Uptown Greenwood. We can guarantee you will have fun. Dates for 2010, TBA.

·         Bring-a-Friend Sunday was held during Advent. Be thinking about who you might invite to visit WPC with you this year. Also remember that they can be invited any time.

·         Diamonds on the Doorstep ,spearheaded by Holly Hubbard, is the monthly newsletter submission where we learn about individual members stories of grace.

·         During Communiversity at Lander University in August, we welcome students and introduce them to Westminster.

·         Operation Christmas Child in November is the shoe box filled with gifts that most of us participate in.

·         Kidswalkis a kid’s devotional in the Index Journal.

·         Love One Another- Pass It On – Caring Card ministry involves everyone in our congregation. This is an opportunity to give the message of God’s love, encouragement and hope to others and to suggest they also “Pass It On”, by sharing a note card.

We are thankful that Westminster Presbyterian Church is able to have an active and on-going impact in our community following the Great Commission God has charged us with – “to Spread His Word” and to “Love one Another.”

2010 Evangelism Ministry Team members include: Toni Sample; Susan Judge; Holly Hubbard; Connie Dailey; Mary Corley; Bill Jacobs; Denny Layne; Aaron Taylor; Barbara & George Park, and Len & Lynn Bornemann.
